Queen Esther Hogan of Southfield, Michigan, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 13,2020, after a long illness. Esther was born June 24, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Emmett and Viney (Prince) Solomon on the city’s east side. Esther attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. As a student at Eastern, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. After graduation she embarked on a thirty year teaching career before her retirement.
Esther is survived by a son, Jonathan (Tiffany) Hogan of Decatur, Georgia; brother, Newton Solomon; sister, Mae Lenn Fields of Southfield, Michigan. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Esther was predeceased by her parents and four siblings, Emmett Solomon Jr., Charles Solomon, Richard Solomon, and Mildred Light.
