Lucille Trotter Obituary

Lucille Trotter was born August 18, 1947 in Sidon, Mississippi to the late Louese and Lonnie Johnson.   She came from a large family, 11 in total.  Lucille attended Amanda Elzy High School in Greenwood, MS.  While there, she ran Track and played Varsity Basketball under the nickname “Skeeter”.   After graduation, she decided to move to Detroit and live with her strict, but loving sister Matilda.

During this time, Lucille began working for Sears Roebuck Company in Highland Park and Dearborn, Michigan.  Over the years, she received service awards for her dedication and commitment to the company.  While working at Sears, Lucille met a truck driver that eventually would change her life.  On March 29, 1975, Lucille was united in marriage to Kallor H. Trotter.  Together, they combined their children from previous marriages to form a stronger and loving family.  As a result, she became a homemaker for almost 20 years.  Then in 1997, Lucille returned back to the workforce at Technicolor Inc.

Lucille’s love for the Lord was immeasurable.  After just one visit, she decided that St. John C.O.G.I.C would be her church home under the direction of Elder Beals.  During worship, she took on the task of being the Church Secretary, Event Chef, Sunday School Teacher, and Best Dressed member.  By 1990, Lucille joined Landmark C.O.G.I.C under the direction of Elder John Mitchell to continue her spiritual journey.

Lucille was best known for her baking, cooking, and sewing.  All of her baking was from scratch.  Her cooking was flavorful.  Lucille’s sewing skills made her, her daughters, family, and friends look and feel like a million bucks!!!  Lucille was also the “Community Mom” of Algonquin Street and for Detroit Public Schools.  She will be forever known for her big smile and generosity.

“Cill” as most would call her, departed her loving family Friday night, June 11, 2021 at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Kallor,  2 Sons: Jerome and Randall, 4 sisters: Rosetta, Edith, Matilda, and Evelyn, 5 brothers: Curtis, Frank, Roosevelt, Londell, and Robert.

Lucille is survived by: 1 sister: Ethel,  1 son: Roger,  2 daughters: Jasquella and Anjala,  4 Grandchildren: Dominick JaJuan, Nicole Joi, Bria Simone, and Isaac Andre’, and a host of loving nieces/nephews, honorary children/grandchildren, and devoted friends.
