Jerry Conley Obituary
Jerry Conley February 11, 1959 – April 29, 2025 Jerry Conley was born on February 11, 1959, in Gilmore, Arkansas to Willie Mae Conley and Montgomery Joyce. He began his early education in Gilmore and later moved to Detroit during his teenage years, where he completed his education in the Detroit Public School System. Jerry’s strong faith was a guiding force in his life, and he was a devoted member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. From a young age, Jerry discovered his gift in carpentry. Over the years, he became a trusted craftsman—skilled in home repair, appliance work, and just about anything that required a tool and a steady hand. His unmatched work ethic and dedication led him to a long-standing role as Maintenance Supervisor at French Quarters Apartments, where he eventually retired after many years of faithful service. In his youth, Jerry met the love of his life, Vola. Their union was blessed with three daughters—Sandra, Terri, and Pandora—whom he deeply cherished. Jerry took great pride in being a present and loving father. He lit up when spending time with his girls, often filling the room with laughter, Motown tunes, and stories from the past. His bond with his siblings was also deeply rooted in love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories that he held dear. Jerry’s warmth and genuine spirit meant strangers never stayed strangers for long. His friendly nature and quick wit drew people in—turning everyday moments into lasting connections. He enjoyed the simple joys in life: singing his favorite Motown jams, watching scary movies, playing the lottery, BBQing on the grill, and delighting his family with his famous sweet potato pie. After a courageous battle with health challenges, Jerry made his peaceful transition on April 29, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Vola; his three daughters, Sandra, Terri (Mike), and Pandora (Mike); six grandchildren—Cardea’, Jacob, Cuirah, Morgan, Jayda, and Dylan; one great-granddaughter, Dream; and his loving siblings—Gwen, Sandra, Calvin, Renea, Felicia, Brenda, Michelle, Melvin, Stacy, and Tracy. He also leaves behind his two sons-in-law, both named Mike, with whom he shared a special bond over sports, family gatherings, and heartfelt conversations—moments that brought laughter and love into his life. Jerry’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, strength, faith, and connection. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
