Reflections of the Life of Dalana Yvette Krystal Reid

Dalana Yvette Krystal Reid was born July 28, 1972. God chose her to be blessed and highly favored right from the start, when he gave her a wonderful father, Thomas Reid, and two loving mothers, Kathy Lane and Scarlett Reid.

Whether you knew her as Dalana, Tana or Krystal, you knew that her most cherished role after being God’s child, was mothering her three sons, Anthony, Dalan and Shaquille; and two daughters, Maurianna and Lanayla. She loved her children with the protectiveness of a mother elephant and the fearlessness of a mother lion! She also adored her eight grandchildren and was the Nana who loved hosting a good sleepover and getting all her grandbabies over at the same time.

Tana grew up in Detroit, Michigan and was educated in both private and public schools. After completing high school, she furthered her education at Wayne County Community College, where she studied Early Childhood Development. Tana worked many years in childcare because she loved children. She was most recently employed as a Manager at Dollar Tree – a job she really loved. She often spoke fondly of her work family. While recovering from surgery, she talked repeatedly about how she couldn't wait to get back to work.

Tana loved spending time with family and friends. She was a loving, kind, compassionate, generous and giving person who would help anyone and never judged others, saying “You never know what a person has been through.” Tana was also an excellent cook. She jumped right in to help at any holiday gathering or family event. She was well known for her banana pudding.

Tana never gave up fighting. She was such a fighter – fighting not just for herself, but for many others as she had a knack for being able to cut through red tape and get things accomplished. She could get a person whatever help they needed. Tana transcended this life on June 6, 2022. She was preceded in death by one of her mother’s, Kathy Lane; her father, Thomas Reid; sisters: Peggy, Delores, Frances and Sylvia; brother, Ricky; and all of her grandparents.

Her memory and legacy of love remain alive in her mother, Scarlett Reid; her five children; nine grandchildren: Anthony, Laniya, Iyana, Kennan, Tiara, Tiana, Adrionna, Laiana, and Kasiyah; four sisters: Sandra (Eric), Cynthia (Enoch), Alexandria aka Mookie, and her special sister whom she adored, ”Her Person,” Charnita (Tyrone); four brothers: Larry, Clifton, William and Sterling; a loving and devoted fiance’, Terry Wade; best friend, Korie Bram; special cousin from the playpen throughout life, Lenoka (Alexander); and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.
