Kathy Lane Obituary

Kathy Louise Lane, 70, of Detroit, Michigan, was called home suddenly by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 1, 2019.

She was born in Hazelhurst, Mississippi on May 20, 1949, daughter of the late Moses Wade and Ethel Louise Morris II.

Kathy was the second of 9 children. At a very young age her parents moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she would spend the rest of her years growing up with her loving grandparents. She was educated in the Detroit Public School system. She continued her education at Shaw College of Detroit where she received an associated degree as a Nursing Assistant. Later, she received a Cosmetology license from Virginia Farrell.

Kathy was raised as a believer in God where she was a devout worshipper at the Spiritual Israel Church and Its Army for more than 50 years.

Kathy appreciated good movies. She would spend hours watching action, drama and suspense. Comedy was also a favorite genre. She could often be heard in the halls of her apartment building laughing late at night as she watched some of her favorite comedians. She adored her children and grandchildren. She was always teaching and preaching about doing the right things. She loved helping the elderly, housekeeping, entertaining her family for the holidays and shopping for the latest fashions. Kathy had a distinct stride that had people stopping and heads turning. You would often hear others saying, “There goes Kathy. Look at that walk”. She also had a way of touching the lives of many people in a special way with her unique communicative style and demeaner

Kathy was married to Willie Frankie Lane for over 30 years who preceded her in passing. She will forever be remembered by her five children, Charnita Prentiss (Tyrone), William Morris, Sterling Lane, Dalana “Tana” Lane and Alexandria “Mookie” Lane; her sisters, Delores Eckwood (William), Jacqueline Guyton, Bobbie Hines (Benjamin), Elizabeth Johnson, Lawrence Clay, brother Johns Clay; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends, and a special friend (Sterling); siblings, Robert, Leroy and Anita Clay all preceding her in passing.
