Byron Dwayne Hardges was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 9, 1972, to the union of Harold and Deborah Stafford.
Byron attended Detroit Osborn High School and began a career serving Detroit area seniors by working with Meals on Wheels. Byron later became an entrepreneur in the automobile industry, purchasing, restoring and selling vehicles until he was no longer able to work due to his health. Byron departed this life on June 5, 2019 after a long battle with cardiac disease related to a heart transplant he received in June 2002. Byron bravely fought the battle and ran the race until he went home to be with the Lord.
Byron accepted Christ and reaffirmed his salvation through water baptism at Worldwide Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. Byron had a love of automobiles. He regularly attended car auctions, purchasing vehicles, restoring and selling them at substantial profit. Byron was a music lover who enjoyed listening to R&B, Rap and Gospel, including attending concerts at venues all over Detroit. But what Byron was most well-known for – what Everyone knew him for – was his fashion sense and style! Byron’s look was always together and his “fits” were always right! Byron loved wearing the latest clothes and shoes. He loved being in the company of friends and family. Byron was a genuine person and believed in having a good time with friends and family. He was everybody’s friend.
Byron planned to travel the world but was always afraid to fly. Byron had many trips planned in his mind. He constantly talked about his plans to fly to Las Vegas, Mexico, New York and California. Whenever you asked him about getting on an actual plane to travel, he would say, I will go on the next trip or I am planning a trip for next month. We know Byron is now off on many adventures and seeing all the places he had planned to visit!
Byron met the love of his life, Shawntell and the two were joined in holy matrimony on August 19, 2000. To this union, on daughter Kynnedy Hardges was born. Byron leaves to mourn his miraculous life, wife Shawntell Hardges; Parents, Harold and Deborah Stafford; children, Brandin, Byron, Briana, Kynnedy and “bonus daughter” Akiia; Brother, Delaine (Tiana); Sisters, Tamiko and Makia, and Father-in-Law, Donald Hightower (Linda). In addition, he leaves to mourn his life several grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to count. Byron Hardges was an excellent man, an excellent husband, father and friend. To know Byron was to love him. Byron, forever in our hearts, until we meet again.
